Itā€™s time to start planning for theĀ Mill Cities Relay!!Ā

TheĀ 2022Ā Mill Cities RelayĀ will be held onĀ Sunday, December 4thĀ beginning at 8am.Ā  We came in 2nd place in 2021 missing 1st by only 2 points!Ā  However, in 2019 we placed first, so letā€™s get back to our place as MCR champions and field GLRRā€™s best and largest number of teams yet!

What is the Mill Cities Relay?Ā  Many regional running clubs belong to the Mill Cities Alliance which form teams in multiple age/gender groups for a relay race from Nashua NH to Lawrence MA, covering more than a marathonā€™s distance in the process.Ā  While this is a race, and we always like putting together some competitive teams for our speedy runners, this is also one of GLRR’sĀ biggest social event of the year.Ā  Here you can meet lots of oldĀ andĀ new club members.Ā  Check outĀ www.millcitiesrelay.comĀ for more info on the relay, and a description of the different relay legs involved.

TheĀ Mill Cities RelayĀ isĀ free to all current members of GLRR (and hopefully members that have also renewed their membership for next year!)Ā  Again, this year, we will be assigning all the GLRR teams based on various factors including age and athletic ability, but do not fret… you will all have a chance to run regardless of how fast you are.Ā  All you have to do is fill out theĀ GLRR Mill Cities Relay FormĀ byĀ November 18th.Ā Ā After the Nov 18th deadline, we will contact you to let you know what team you are on. So donā€™t delay, sign up now!!

We are also looking forĀ GLRRĀ team captains.Ā  Donā€™t worry, itā€™s just for your 5-member team (or 3 for ā€œsunshine startā€ teams).Ā  Captains would just have to make sure that their team members know when and where to run their legs.Ā  That includes helping with the coordination of rides to get all the members to the start of their legs and to their cars after their legs.Ā  If this sounds good to you, when you fill out the GLRR Mill Cities Relay Form, please check ā€œYesā€ for the question ā€œAre you willing to be a team captain?ā€.

Any questions?Ā  Donā€™t hesitate to ask!
