Itās time to start planning for theĀ Mill Cities Relay!!Ā
TheĀ 2023Ā Mill Cities RelayĀ will be held onĀ Sunday, December 3rdĀ beginning at 8am.Ā We came in 2nd place in 2021 and 2022. However, in 2019 we placed first, so letās get back to our place as MCR champions and field GLRRās best and largest number of teams yet!
What is the Mill Cities Relay?Ā Many regional running clubs belong to the Mill Cities Alliance which form teams in multiple age/gender groups for a relay race from Nashua NH to Lawrence MA, covering more than a marathonās distance in the process.Ā While this is a race, and we always like putting together some competitive teams for our speedy runners, this is also one of GLRR’sĀ biggest social event of the year.Ā Here, you can meet lots of old andĀ new club members.Ā Check outĀ www.millcitiesrelay.comĀ
TheĀ Mill Cities RelayĀ isĀ free to all current members of GLRR (and hopefully members that have also renewed their membership for next year!)Ā Again, this year, we will be assigning all the GLRR teams based on various factors including age and athletic ability, but do not fret… you will all have a chance to run regardless of how fast you are.Ā All you have to do is fill out theĀ GLRR Mill Cities Relay FormĀ byĀ November 19th.Ā Ā After the Nov 19th deadline, we will contact you to let you know what team you are on. So donāt delay, sign up now!!
We are also looking forĀ GLRRĀ team captains.Ā Donāt worry, itās just for your 5 member team (or 3 for āsunshine startā teams).Ā Captains would just have to make sure that their team members know when and where to run their legs.Ā That includes helping with the coordination of rides to get all the members to the start of their legs and to their cars after their legs.Ā If this sounds good to you, when you fill out theĀ GLRR Mill Cities Relay Form, please check āYesā for the question āAre you willing to be a team captain?ā.
Any questions?Ā Donāt hesitate to ask!
